(By Balachander) Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) has been sued by Silicon Valley technology company Intertrust Technologies Corp. for patent infringement.?
Intertrust accuses Apple of making products and services that infringe on 15 Intertrust patents on security and distributed trusted computing.
Intertrust invents, develops, and licenses software, technologies and intellectual property for digital rights management (DRM) and trusted computing. It holds over 250 patents and has over 200 patent applications pending
The suit covers key Apple products and services including iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad, Mac computers and laptops, Apple TV, and services including iTunes, iCloud, and the Apple App Store.
"Apple makes many great products that use Intertrust's inventions," said Intertrust CEO Talal Shamoon.
Intertrust claims its inventions enable a range of products that use DRM and trusted computing technologies, including operating systems, digital media platforms, consumer electronics and mobile computing devices, web services, and secure enterprise automation. It also provides advanced multiplatform OEM SDKs for Marlin servers and clients.
Apple shares shed 0.68 percent to trade at $451.38 on Wednesday.
